12/1 Heather:
Have any of you already used Handhelds with students? If yes, briefly describe the experience below:
  • 12/1 Heather: I have experience teaching students how to use Handhelds prior to using these tools for instruction. The most interesting thing was parents not allowing student permission to use Handhelds in school for fear of the replacement cost. Participating students were very engaged and did a good job following directions. After 90 minutes of introductory instruction, students are well prepared and excited to use Handhelds as a learning tool.

Please list any questions/comments you have about using Handhelds for instruction in FCPS:

  • [Jesse 11/29] Who has Handhelds available for them to use for instruction now? Please list your school below:
    • We have 2 classroom sets of Palms to use with students at CES - Micha
    • We have 5 Palms for student use a VES - we plan to expand than later this year and hope to have 10 by the end of 2007-2008 school year
    • 11/30 Lorri: We have 2 classroom sets for student use at MPS.
    • We have 0 palms. I would love for our school to have them but they are so expensive to get a class set. Any plans in the future to make it happen in the county budget? If we could get one class set from the county and show how much they can support instructional learning, it would greatly help. -DCES Stefani 12/5
    • [Sheila 11/30] Has the Palm HandShare software been reviewed for approval on the network? http://www.mobilityware.com/HandShare/HandShareProduct.htm
      • [Heather 12/03]: I believe the county is in the process of reviewing this software - Karen will be a good resource to let us know.
